The last 20 years, I have been focusing on psychiatric care of children and adolescents. My clinical interest in treatment of developmental disorders has found a home at Massachusetts General Hospital Bressler Clinical Research Program in Autism Spectrum Disorder. I also have the distinct honor to oversee the psychiatric services at Shriners Hospital for Children in Boston, where I am blessed with the company of a most admirable, caring group of clinicians providing care for children with severe burn injuries.
Direct patient care is heart and core of our medical system. It has to be kept up-to-date with cutting edge knowledge of treatments, and management of newly identified risk factors. Guidance on a healthy lifestyle including sleep and monitoring for the effects of the new digital challenges of our age, the electronic screens and video games, are among many topics that I find myself talking about with parents, frequently.
At my outpatient practice in Milton, I provide psychiatric care for children, teens and young adults. This involves a comprehensive evaluation and ongoing monitoring of the identified problems and associated developmental, emotional, physical and social difficulties.
